When is the best time for a sailing holiday in Greece?
The Greek islands make up 20% of the country’s surface area, and Greece boasts a coastline of more than 15,000 km / 9,320 mi. in length, making Hellas the ideal sailing destination.

The weather in Greece is Mediterranean with mild, humid winters and dry, hot summers. The sailing “season” begins in March when the air temperatures become warmer than the water temperatures. In the early season, the marinas and harbours are still pleasantly empty, making spring an ideal time for sailing.

The Azores highs from mid-May onwards bring more stable weather and warmer seas. In July and August, temperatures rise, and sunshine hours increase. The high season of sailing begins! However, during the summer months of July and August, you should avoid the Greek Aegean as the Meltemi winds prevail during this time.

While the Meltemi provides the islanders with a longed-for cool breeze during these hottest of months, they can prove a real challenge for all sailors and should not be underestimated! September is also a wonderful month to hoist the sails as the marinas are no longer crowded yet the weather remains beautiful and warm.

Where is the best place in Greece for kayaking?
Discovering the Greek coast by kayak doesn’t just sound like paradise, it really is! Guided day tours and multi-day trips are offered mainly on the Ionian Islands, the Saronic Gulf, the Athens Riviera, the Peloponnese and the Cyclades.

What are the top rafting destinations in Greece?
There are numerous incredible waterways winding through beautiful scenery to explore. Rafting is a perfect activity for those who love both action and nature.

Northern Greece is home to ideal rafting terrain: The Arachthos River in Epirus and the Tavropos and Megdovas Rivers in Evritania, Central Greece, almost seem tailor-made for rafting.

In western Greece, the Evinos River is another perfect place for a rafting adventure as is the Aliakmonas River near Grevena and the area around Mount Olympus.

In the Peloponnese, the rivers Loussios and Alfios in Arcadia offer perfect conditions for unforgettable rafting experiences.

What is canyoning?
Canyoning is making your way down a gorge using a variety of techniques, such as abseiling, jumping, sliding, swimming, and sometimes even diving. The correct equipment and experienced guides are essential for an unforgettable canyoning experience.

Canyoning was established as an adventure sport in Spain and southern France at the end of the 1990’s and is now a fantastic activity for the summer months. Greece also has canyoning opportunities: Think natural water park with slides!

On a canyoning adventure, you can jump into pools of crystal-clear water and abseil down waterfalls, follow the path of the river, and discover incredible pockets of nature only accessible through this unique sport.

Please note: Canyoning requires a certain level of athletic ability and basic physical fitness. We highly recommend booking guided tours with professional guides!

Top destinations for canyoning in Greece include the Pelion Peninsula and the Olympus Mountains, the Neda gorge on the Peloponnese, the Evritania region, and the islands of Crete and Samothrace.
