The renowned wine-growing region of Nemea lies less than 100 km / 60 mi. from Athens. In this mythical province, the native grape variety Fliassos, known today as Agiorgitiko, has been cultivated for over 3,000 years.
In ancient times, Nemea was the venue of the Nemean Games, one of the four great Panhellenic sports competitions and almost as prestigious as the Olympic Games. The area also gained fame through Greek mythology, as Heracles is said to have killed the formidable Nemean lion here.
On our exclusive Wine & Gourmet Tour to Nemea and Nafplio, you embark on a journey back in time. You taste exceptional wines in local cellars with sommeliers who will explain the various wines to you. You also enjoy a visit to the former Greek capital Nafplio in the south-east of the Peloponnese, where you are treated to a multi-course gourmet meal and can enjoy breathtaking views from the Palamidi Fortress, rounding off a perfect day in Greece.
This exclusive wine tour can be booked on any day throughout the year.
Here we visit two traditional wineries in the company of a wine expert and learn about the millennia-old tradition of wine-growing in Greece. Of course you will also learn a wealth of interesting facts about the historical region of Nemea.
Today, Nemea is one of the most significant wine regions in Greece. The vineyards are located on plateaus of varying heights, between 250 – 800 m / 820 – 2,625 ft. above sea level.
The different climatic conditions and soil properties give the grapes a unique quality and a great variety of aromas, which are reflected in the wines produced here.
In the pleasantly cool atmosphere of the wine cellar, we taste at least five excellent Greek wines, accompanied by a cheese platter and bread. Of course, you will receive a detailed explanation of each wine from our wine expert.
Many consider Nafplio to be one of the most beautiful cities in Greece. Flower-filled alleys nestled between neoclassical buildings provide the perfect setting for a four-course gourmet meal, accompanied by complementary wines, of course!
Afterwards, there is enough time for a stroll through Nafplio and a visit to the Palamidi Fortress, from where there is a breath-taking view over the entire city and the blue expanse of the Argolic Gulf.
We arrive back at your accommodation in Athens around 7:30 pm after a very interesting and eventful day.
From 310€ per person (depending on number of guests and accomodation spot)
