The horseshoe-shaped Navarino Bay is one of the most impressive natural wonders of the Peloponnese. Furthermore, it serves as the natural harbor of the town of Pylos. In the Middle Ages, the town was called Navarino. It was here, where in 1827 the last great naval battle fought exclusively from the decks of great sailing ships took place. In this historic battle, Greece gained its independence from the Ottomans after years of rebellion.
At this important site, our kayak tour takes you through a landscape of almost unbelievable beauty. Our five nautical mile (10 km / 6 mi.) tour takes you past impressive rock formations, caves, and golden sandy beaches.
We experience somewhat of a Robinson Crusoe atmosphere as we visit the remote island of Sphacteria, a popular nesting site for birds and a seal sanctuary. Here we enjoy a picnic and have time to snorkel and swim! Look forward to a journey through history and a great nature experience!
This tour can be booked on any date between March and November with a minimum of 2 participants.
This beach is the ideal starting point for today’s tour due to its shallow waters. Before we set off, you receive a safety briefing from our guide and an introduction to energy-saving paddling techniques.
Another impressive sight is the two medieval forts that guard the famous Navarino Bay, the silent witnesses of the great naval battle of 1827. About halfway through our tour, we reach the remote islet of Sphacteria. Here we discover hidden caves and spot a variety of birds. With a bit of luck, we will also encounter the adorable Mediterranean monk seals.
On the island, we also take a well-deserved break, enjoy a picnic, and also have time for a swim and a snorkel. Afterwards, we make our way back to Divari Beach, where our eventful kayak tour ends.
You will receive a detailed introduction to kayaking techniques by a professional guide before the start of the tour. The guide is always on hand to ensure your safety, which is our top priority.
