Discover Paxos and Antipaxos by kayak

Experience the Jewels of the Ionian Islands

The idyllic islands of Paxos and Antipaxos are located south of Corfu in the Ionian Sea. From the eastern coast of the islands, the Greek mainland is in sight while an endless expanse of blue stretches out all the way to Italy from the west coast. The Greeks refer to both islands together as “Paxoi”. The name goes back to the Latin word “pax” meaning peace.

And this is exactly what you will find on this kayak tour of Paxos and Antipaxos: Heavenly peace in the middle of a natural paradise with spectacular cliffs, countless bays, and hidden caves, breath-taking beaches, and the bluest waters you’ve ever seen.

Over a quarter of a million, olive trees cloak Paxos in a silvery green shimmer. The oil produced here is in high demand throughout Greece. The island also delights with its unique natural harbour Gaios, whose pastel-coloured houses reveal the charm of its Venetian past.

The sparsely populated Antipaxos is famous for its local wine, which has been cultivated on the island for centuries.

Pack your suitcase and head to Greece! Paxos and Antipaxos will make your island dreams come true!

*We also offer individual dates outside the fixed tour dates for groups with at least 4 participants on request.

DAY 1
Paxos (Arrival) | Individual journey to Paxos. The best way to reach Paxos is to fly to Corfu and then take the regular ferry to Gaios on Paxos. Check-in at the apartments in Gaios from 2 pm onwards. You will stay in the same apartment for the entire duration of the trip, so make yourself feel at home!

You then meet your guide at the accommodation and receive a briefing for the coming days. Afterwards, you have time to explore the enchanting town, buy some breakfast supplies for the next few days, and spend a cosy evening in one of the many delightful tavernas. Overnight stay in Gaios.

DAY 2
Paxos: Mongonisi – Gaios – Mongonisi | In the morning we take a short transfer to Mongonisi, where our kayaks are waiting. Once everything is ready and we have received a safety briefing, we head off and paddle along the coast heading northwards.

Along the way, we stop several times at beautiful beaches where we can swim to our heart’s content, enjoy fresh fruit, and lunch. Afterwards, we visit the island of Agios Nikolaos, located off the coast of Gaios.

Here we explore the Venetian Fortress together before paddling back to Mongonisi. From here we take a transfer back to Gaios.

DAY 3
Paxos: Gaios – Lakka – Gaios | Today we start our tour from the harbor in Gaios and explore the beautiful villages of Longos and Lakka. The further north we go, the more spectacular the rock formations become, which eventually rise up to form steep cliffs.

Along the way, we discover hidden beaches and there is plenty of time to swim and snorkel. After our lunch break, we return to Gaios where you have the rest of the day for yourself.

DAY 4
Paxos: West Coast | We start the day with a transfer to Lakka, from where we start our paddle tour heading south. Look forward to beautiful and varied rock formations, yet more stunning cliffs, and exploring several caves by kayak.

There are a number of breath-taking beaches on this side of Paxos that are almost inaccessible by land. The unique seclusion of these beaches makes them the perfect place for a peaceful swim.

Along the way, we enjoy lunch together. Our destination is the bay of Mongonisi, from where a transfer takes us back to Gaios.

DAY 5
Paxos – Antipaxos – Paxos and individual journey home |  This morning is dedicated to Paxos’ little sister Antipaxos. Even from a distance, it is possible to see the extraordinary beauty of this scarcely populated island.

The gentle rays of the morning light reflect the blue of the sea onto the wild coastline – a truly magnificent sight!

As we circumnavigate the island, it is hard to stop marvelling at the many unique beaches and bays. Far too quickly we have circled the island and must tackle the short passage across the open sea back to Paxos. After the kayak tour, our eventful trip comes to an end.

Individual journey home or extension of your stay on Paxos or Corfu. Should you wish to stay longer, we would be happy to help you book your accommodation.

Comfortable apartments with cooking facilities

During this trip, you will stay in carefully selected, cosy apartments in Gaios, the picturesque main town of Paxos. Here you can enjoy the comforts of a hot shower, a comfortable bed, hospitable owners and WIFI.

In addition, all apartments come with a fully-equipped kitchenette, so you can prepare your own breakfast and dinner (which are not included in the price of your stay) should you prefer to cook for yourself rather than trying the delicious local cuisine.

How do I get to Paxos?
Paxos can only be reached by ferry from Lefkimi in Corfu or by Flying Dolphin from Corfu Town. We, therefore, recommend booking a flight to/from Corfu and then taking the ferry.

What meals are included?
A daily lunch is included in the tour price. If you wish to eat vegetarian or have food intolerances, please inform us before the start of the tour. Vegan meals unfortunately cannot be catered for on this tour.

You can prepare breakfast and dinner in the apartment at your own expense or visit one of the many cafés and restaurants in Gaios. All drinks are not included.

Are changes to the tour itinerary possible?
Wind and weather can of course affect an outdoor tour such as this and occasionally force us to make changes to the tour itinerary.

The tour itinerary given here is therefore only a guideline. It can be modified on site after consultation between the group and the guide if the weather or the performance level of the group requires it.

The safety of our guests is always our top priority. Our experienced guide knows both islands like the back of their hand and will make every effort to find suitable alternatives should the planned itinerary not be possible due to extreme weather conditions.

How difficult is this tour?
This kayak tour is suitable for beginners as well as advanced kayakers. However, a good basic level of fitness is required.

Each participant will receive a detailed briefing about the use of the equipment and energy-efficient paddling techniques at the beginning of the trip. Our guide is a certified kayak guide and of course, has first aid training and is also trained to handle emergency situations.

During the trip, they will be happy to advise you on how to optimize your technique. We will check with you before the trip whether you have enough experience to handle a single kayak or whether a double kayak might be a better choice for you.

What should I bring on this tour?
Greece has a temperate climate. It is a good idea to dress in layers so that you can take something off or put something on if it is too warm/cold.

We also recommend packing as light as possible, as heavy luggage can quickly become a burden. Below you will find a short list of things we recommend bringing with you. This is only a guideline, and you can of course modify it according to your own needs.
