MTB & Boat Trail Fun in the Aegean

Discover the trail paradise of the Aegean Islands by mountain bike

Glistening waters, enchanting islands, and a mountain biker’s Eldorado await you in the Greek Aegean. In recent years, numerous new trails have been built on the islands and existing historic paths have been maintained. Today you will find an incredibly varied terrain here from natural paths to single trails.

Biking through this MTB paradise is a truly unforgettable experience. The best way to discover the island world of the Aegean is by boat and bike! Pure bliss and plenty of biking fun are guaranteed! The islands are magical and each unique with their own character, rich history, and breath-taking nature. Packing and re-packing your suitcase is a thing of the past!

The comfortable boat is your floating home, restaurant, and means of transport for the week. We explore the wonderful islands of Kos, Leros, Tilos, and Nissyros. No off-road trail will be forgotten. The crossings from island to island are one of the tour’s greatest highlights. Wherever possible, the boat anchors in dreamlike bays so that you can jump directly from the boat into the refreshing, blue water.

Relax in quaint bars with a drink in hand as you watch the sun set over the sea. In the evening, take some time to explore the idyllic harbour towns and villages! You could hardly ask for a more varied holiday!

  • Endless trail fun: Enjoy the incredible trails at Sympetro on Kos!
  • Never ending blue: Experience wonderful crossings with swimming stops
  • Perfect panorama: The view from the crusader castle on Leros is breath-taking

(Sat) Bodrum (Embarkation) | Individual arrival to Bodrum harbour. A collective transfer from Bodrum Airport to the harbour is available for an extra cost on request. Check in begins on the Gullet at 2 pm.

Use the evening hours to enjoy the lively atmosphere in the city of Bodrum and relax with a typical Turkish tea. In the evening a shared dinner on board can be enjoyed in the company of your travel companions and tour guides.

(Sun) Bodrum – Yalıçiftlik – Kos (A: aprx. 14 mi./22 km, 1,900 ft./580 m of elevation; B: aprx. 12 mi./19 km, 1,500 ft./460 m of elevation) | The first bike tour of the week takes us to Kızılağaç, famous for its local farmer’s market. After a break we continue biking.

Once we have arrived in Yalıçiftlik we board the boat for lunch and a cruise to Kos town. A wealth of cultural sights in Kos town provide an insight into the town’s turbulent historical past including the Roman Forum, the Crusader fortress, and the mosques from the time when Kos was part of the Ottoman Empire.

The evening can be spent in one of the numerous bars or cafes in the town.

(Mon) Kos Island/Kos Town – Tilos Island (A: aprx. 19 mi./30 km, 2,400 ft./720 m of elevation; B: 14 mi./23 km, 2,600 ft./780 m of elevation) | We bike through town before cycling on through fragrant pine forests on a gradually ascending natural trail to the peak of the backyard mountain of Kos. While riding along the island’s ridge, we can enjoy plenty of breath-taking panoramic views.

Our descent takes us along diverse trails back in the direction of Kos town. Technical sections combined with flowy corners and berms will offer all riders a multifaceted experience.

In the afternoon, a relaxing cruise takes us to Tilos Island.

(Tue) Tilos Island – Nissyros Island (A + B: aprx. 16 mi./26 km; 2,400 ft./730 m of elevation) | Today an exceptional trail cocktail takes you to the abandoned village of Mikrochorio, who’s unique charm will leave a lasting impression on all who visit. A long coastal trail, rated amongst the top ten best coastal trails in Europe by BIKE magazine in Germany, brings you back to the boat.

After a delicious lunch you can relax on board and enjoy the sea breeze during the approx. two hour boats crossing to Mandraki on the island of Nissyros.

(Wed) Nissyros Island – Kalymnos Island (A + B: aprx. 16 mi./26 km, 2,500 ft./770 m of elevation) | Today’s bike tour starts by taking us on tar sealed roads (saving our energy) from Mandraki to Nikia, a mountain village built directly on the edge of the volcanic crater at 1,400 ft./430 m above sea level. From here we can enjoy a spectacular view into the crater of the volcano.

The volcano, white houses, and numerous pebble mosaics are a truly special highlight of this tour. From here we bike on, close to the crater with its steaming sulphur springs, before heading back along diverse trails to our ship in the small port town of Mandraki.

Once back at the harbour we board the boat for a four-hour cruise to an anchorage on the island of Kalymnos for the night.

(Thu) Leros Island – Pserimos Island (A: aprx. 22 mi./35 km, 3,000 m of elevation; B: 16 mi./26 km, 2,200 ft./680 m of elevation) | Early morning crossing to the scenic Island of Leros. Today’s ride leads us to the fort of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem in Agia Marina and down an epic flight of stairs to the small alleyways of the town.

Passing the picturesque town harbour, we cycle on to the seaside chapel of Agios Isidoros, a popular place to get married on the island. Following the coastline, we reach a beautiful sandy beach where we can stop for a swim and a coffee.

The highlight of the day is the newly constructed Kalamari Trail, which merges directly with the Lighthouse Trail. After cycling these, we continue along the coastline back to the boat. On board we enjoy a three-hour cruise to the island of Pserimos.

(Fri) Kos Island – Bodrum (A: 19 mi./30 km, 2,300 ft./700 m of elevation; B: 15 mi./24 km, 990 ft./300 m of elevation) | In the morning we cross over to the town of Kos. The last bike ride of our tour begins here, leading us either once more along a myriad of trails to the backyard mountain of Kos or on a more leisurely route to one of the lovely beaches.

After having lunch ashore, we enjoy our last cruise to Bodrum. Once back in Bodrum, there will be plenty of time for another walk through the bustling old town.

Here there is plenty to see including the impressive castle of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem and the remains of the famous Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. A final evening meal is enjoyed together in the company of guides and guests.

(Sat) Bodrum | Disembarkation after breakfast. Collective transfers to Bodrum Airport. Individual return home or extension of your holiday.

You will receive more precise information on this in your detailed guest information, which we will send you in plenty of time before the start of the tour.

What language is the tour conducted in?
This tour is conducted in English and German.

Are changes to the itinerary possible?
We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing weather conditions as well as organizational requirements.

Sometimes the tour will be run in reverse order. Our tours are dependent on weather conditions and the final decision is that of the captain.

Catering on this the tour includes half-board, consisting of a daily breakfast and six lunches on board. Please inform us of any food intolerances or allergies before the start of your journey. The same applies if you wish to eat vegetarian. All drinks are at your own expense.

Are changes to the tour itinerary possible?
We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. Sometimes the tour will be run in reverse order. Our tours are dependent on weather conditions and the final decision is that of the captain.

How difficult are the bike tours?
Moderate to challenging daily tours in hilly terrain at distances of 16 – 30 mi./25 – 50 km and 985 – 3,150 ft/300 to 1,200 meters of elevation.

The terrain in this region is very diverse and changes from island to island: technical and demanding single trails alternate with wide gravel 4×4 roads and, on occasion, quiet asphalt stretches; there are very few unrideable passages.

Our tours may be adjusted on site by the guides depending on weather conditions, time schedules and the ability of the group. Various sections in the tour are offered at a higher or lower technical degree, leaving you to make the final decision.

Level A: aprx. 106 mi./170 km, 14,100 ft./4,300 m of elevation, S0 – S2 (some parts S3)
Level B: aprx. 91 mi./145 km, 12,500 ft./3,800 m of elevation, S0 – S2

To meet the different requirements of the guests, each trip is usually accompanied by two MTB guides who, wherever possible, offer two tour of differing performance levels. The tours vary in altitude, kilometres, and difficulty of the trails.

Trips with less than 10 participants are accompanied by one guide only, and in this case only one MTB level can be offered. We thank you for your understanding. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend time on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike-tour.

Good to know – Group pace during the tours
On a guided MTB tour the speed of the group is determined by the mountain bikers on regular bikes. If you have hired an e-MTB, we ask you to respect those in the group who are riding without electric support. Those on regular bikes require more time and recovery when biking up hill. We thank you for your understanding.

Smart heads stay safe - Helmets are compulsory on our cycling tours!
Helmets are mandatory on our bike tours. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).
