WHAT TO EXPECT
Our tour starts at 9:00 am at the Acropolis metro station at the Makriyanni/Aeropagitou exit. It can get very busy there, however, you should be able to spot your guide easily as they will be holding a sign saying, “Alternative Athens”. The guide can help you purchase the necessary combined tickets and then we’re ready to go:

We first explore the “Sacred Rock” of Athens with its magnificent marble buildings and enjoy impressive views over the entire city. Timeless myths help the whole family to better understand the Acropolis’ incredible monuments.

Look forward to stories about Poseidon, the god of the sea and Athena, the goddess of wisdom, as well as the all-powerful Zeus and the wine god Dionysus. These ancient gods will come alive through our guide’s captivating storytelling, a skill they have mastered to perfection!

After having discovered the Acropolis’ well-kept secrets, we take a short walk down the hill to the marketplace of ancient Athens, the ancient Agora. Here we discover the best-preserved temple in Greece: the Hephasteion.

The famous temple of Hephaestus, the god of the forges, which was shared with the goddess Athena, has magnificent depictions recounting the great deeds of the heroes Theseus and Hercules. The perfect place for many more exciting myths!

Walking through the Agora, we are following in the footsteps of great philosophers such as Socrates and Plato, who shared their ideas in this very place.

Here, the guide leads a family activity using all that has been learnt during the tour about the ancient gods and heroes. This is the perfect place and way to interact imaginatively and creatively with the ancient mythical world.

By the end of the tour, you’ll not only have learned what made this city and its gods so immortal and legendary, but you’ll also be able to take home a piece of history which you’ll have created together as a family!
