The Mani Peninsula is a true hidden treasure. Located on the southern coast of the Peloponnese, its wild, rugged, and dramatic landscape never fails to leave its visitors in awe. Picturesque seaside fishing villages contrast with inland hermetically sealed tower houses. Charming bays, beautiful beaches, and numerous hidden caves characterise the varied coastline.
The imposing Taygettos Mountains form a natural border between the Mani Peninsula and the Peloponnese. This natural barrier isolated the Mani people from the rest of the world for thousands of years, resulting in a completely independent way of living and local culture on Mani, which is still clearly noticeable today. If you would like to have an authentic Greek experience, then come to Mani and join us on our variety-packed kayak trip!
You can book this tour on any date between April and November.
Due to the staggered tour prices, this tour can be arranged for as few as 2 participants. The larger the group, the lower the tour price for each individual.
After checking into your hotel, you are given a briefing about the coming days. Dinner together in a harbour taverna. Overnight stay in Kalamata.
We head south along the beautiful coast of the Messinian Gulf until we reach the fishing village of Kitries with its unique lighthouse. From here it is not far to a hidden sandy beach where we enjoy a picnic and have time to swim and snorkel.
Afterwards, we jump back into the kayaks and continue paddling. Soon the scenery becomes more rugged and wild. We later arrive at our destination for the day, Kardamyli, an idyllic seaside town where we spend the night.
Along the way, we make stops in Stoupa with its famous beach Kalogria and Agios Nikolaos with its picturesque harbour. In the afternoon we arrive at the sandy beach of Pantazis, our overnight stop today.
Along the way, we discover the Katafygi Cave, the bed of an underground river. Later we pass the village of Chotasia, rich in natural salt deposits. In former times, the locals harvested this salt as their main source of income for their livelihood.
Our destination today is the charming harbour of Limeni, situated directly by the sea. Here you can relax and enjoy the picturesque atmosphere.
We then continue southwards until we reach a small fjord, the ideal place for our midday picnic and swimming break. With renewed energy, we then cover the last stretch of today’s tour to the sheltered bay of Mezapos, where we spend the night.
The total solitude of this region is truly spectacular. In the afternoon we reach Gerolimenas, where we celebrate completing this eventful day with a delicious meal in a traditional taverna and spend the night.
The village of Vathia, perched high on a hill, with its numerous tower houses, is a particularly striking sight. At the secluded beach of Marmari, we stop for our picnic. Afterwards, we pass the gate of Hades, which according to Greek mythology is one of the entrances to the underworld.
Not far from here is the enchanting Cape Tenero lighthouse. Soon we reach a fjord-like bay, our destination for the day.
