DAY 1
Naxos (Arrival) | Individual journey to Naxos. You will be welcomed by your guide at the port or the airport and taken to your hotel.

In the afternoon you will be given a detailed briefing about the trip ahead. Afterwards, we head out on an exploration tour to discover the old town of Naxos.

In the evening, we enjoy a delicious meal in a traditional Greek taverna. Overnight stay in Naxos town.

DAY 2
Naxos: Hike from the Kouros statue to Chalki (approx. 7 km / 4.5 mi. / 3 hr) | Our hike on Naxos is like something out of a picture book. After a short transfer, we start the day’s hike at the two famous Kouroi near Melanes.

The two marble statues of young men have been lying in the ancient quarry for 2,600 years. Due to imperfections in the stone, the sculptors abandoned their work where they can still be seen today.  Our route first takes us to a large Venetian fortress. We continue through olive groves and macchia to Chalki, one of the most beautiful villages on Naxos.

Our day’s efforts are immediately rewarded with a delicious lunch in a local taverna. Afterwards we take a transfer back to Naxos town, where we spend the night again.

DAY 3
Naxos: Hike up Mount Zeus (approx. 6.5 km / 4 mi. / 4 hr) | The highest mountain in the Cyclades is on the programme for today. The mountain peak, named after Zeus, the father of the ancient gods, is a fantastic location for an incredible hike.

According to local legend, the cave on the north-western side of the mountain was Zeus’ birthplace. During the climb, we can look forward to spectacular panoramic views of the whole island and the deep blue Aegean that lies beyond the island’s shores.

Once we return to Naxos town, the afternoon is free to do with as you please. Perhaps you would like to enjoy a refreshing swim at the beautiful sandy beaches nearby or simply relax. Overnight stay in Naxos town.

DAY 4
From Naxos to Koufonisi | Our ferry to Koufonisi does not leave until early afternoon. This gives us the opportunity to explore the impressive Venetian castle in the morning, which towers above the island’s capital. There is also enough time to stroll through the winding alleys of the old town. Then it’s ‘Goodbye Naxos’.

Our ferry crossing through the island world of the Cyclades takes about 2.5 hours. Koufonisi is made up of two tiny islands separated by a strait only 200 m wide. Together, the two islets form a paradise of unspoilt beauty.

A real jewel in the middle of the Aegean! The locals claim that there are more boats than inhabitants. Cars are also practically non-existent; here most people walk or cycle. Overnight stay on Koufonisi.

DAY 5
Koufonisi: Island hike (approx. 8 km / 5 mi. / 4 hr) – Amorgos | Off we go to explore Koufonisi on foot! Today’s destination is the beautiful Pori Beach. Along the way, we marvel at countless views of the island’s rugged southern coast.

Bays after bays indent the shoreline filled with the numerous sparkling shades of the blue sea. In areas, the turquoise of the water is so spectacular you might think you were looking at a photoshopped picture were you not standing right there.

In Pori, we have time to swim before returning to the hotel. In the late afternoon, we take the ferry to Amorgos, the easternmost of all the Cycladic islands. Here our next wonderland awaits with crystal clear water and an immensely peaceful atmosphere. Overnight stay on Amorgos.

DAY 6
Amorgos: Round hike above Aegiali Bay (approx. 8 km / 5 mi. / 4 hr) | Today we look forward to an authentic island experience with wild untouched nature and breath-taking views!

After breakfast we set off on a fantastic round hike, passing the traditional villages of Langada and Tholaria and visiting the monastery of Epanochoriani. The trail leads through hilly countryside with lush vegetation, centuries-old stone walls, and numerous whitewashed churches. Experience Greece’s island idyll at its best!

Once we return to the hotel, you can relax for the rest of the afternoon. Overnight stay on Amorgos.

DAY 7
Amorgos: Hike from Chora to the cliff-side monastery of Chozoviotisa (approx. 13 km / 8 mi. / 5 hr) | There is so much to see on Amorgos! We start another eventful day with a visit to the island’s capital Chora. Located 400 m / 1,312 ft. above sea level, the town is an imposing sight, with its fortress towering over the sea of white houses.

Such beauty simply must be explored, so we have plenty of time to take a stroll along the streets and through the alleys. Afterwards, we leave Chora and head towards the oft-photographed Chozoviotisa Monastery, one of the most extraordinary Byzantine monasteries in Greece. Like an eagle’s nest, it nestles into a steep cliff high above the blue waters of the Aegean.

After visiting the monastery, we continue our hike on paved mule paths to Aegali. A transfer takes us back to the hotel and we spend the night on Amorgos.

DAY 8
From Amorgos to Naxos (Departure) | With a touch of melancholy arising as this magical journey draws to an end, we say goodbye to Amorgos and take the ferry back to Naxos.

Once in Naxos, it is time to either travel home or extend your holiday on Naxos or in Greece. If you would like to see more of the Cyclades, our 4-day extension programme ‘Best of Santorini’ is perfect for you.

Charming boutique hotels in Cycladic style

During this trip, you will be accommodated in beautiful boutique hotels, which reflect the typical charm of the Cyclades Islands in their architecture. Here, tradition meets comfort; the spacious rooms are equipped with a shower and toilet, air conditioning, and often have a balcony or terrace.
