This guided Cape Sounion kayak tour offers unique and truly incredible views of the impressive ancient Temple of Poseidon. For 2,500 years, this landmark of Attica has watched over the southern tip of the Greek mainland. Along the way, you kayak past spectacular cliffs, hidden caves, and secluded bays. Of course, there is plenty of time to dive into the crystal-clear, beautifully blue Aegean Sea.

This tour is completely worry-free: We collect you from your accommodation in Athens and bring you back at the end of the tour. Entrance to the Temple of Poseidon as well as a delicious Greek meal at the cape are also included.

This tour operates from April to November. You can book this tour either during the day or as a sunset tour.


WHAT TO EXPECT
We collect you from your hotel in Athens (either at 9 am for the daytime tour or at 3 pm for the sunset tour). As soon as we have left the city, heading south, you can look forward to a wonderful drive along the Athens Riviera with its magnificent views of the sea.

Our professional kayak guide awaits you at the beautiful sandy beach of Cape Sounion. Here, you are given the required equipment as well as a safety briefing about the upcoming paddling adventure. Once everyone is ready, we set off in two-person groups.

WHAT TO EXPERIENCE
We paddle through the shimmering water along the beautiful coastline around the cape, with imposing cliffs and hidden caves to discover.

On the mini-island of Archi or one of the beaches of Legrena, we make a longer stop during which there is ample time to enjoy a swim in the sea. After enjoying some snacks to replenish our energy, we continue our tour to Cape Sounion.

The view of the millennia-old Temple of Poseidon from the sea is one of the absolute highlights of the tour. Shortly afterwards, our kayak tour ends at Sounion Beach. Once on land, there is plenty of time to visit the temple and enjoy the beautiful view of the Aegean Sea from cliffs.

Entrance to the temple is included in the tour price. Afterwards, you can look forward to a delicious meal in a Greek taverna. On the final 1.5-hour drive back to Athens, you have time to reminisce on the wonderful day.

  • 10.30 – 11 am Distribution of equipment and briefing about the tour

NOTE: The itinerary is subject to weather conditions and the ability of the participants. Our guides are permitted to make changes in accordance with these requirements. Any changes will, however, positively affect your holiday experience.

When can I do this tour?
This tour runs daily from April to November. In late autumn, when it gets dark earlier, the schedule may differ from times given under timetable.

What are the age requirements for this tour?
This tour is suitable for children over the age of 10 years and adults.

What language is the tour conducted in?
This tour is conducted exclusively in English.

Are changes to the tour itinerary possible?
In the event of extreme weather conditions, we reserve the right to change the tour itinerary or to cancel the tour. If we cancel the tour altogether, you can either reschedule for another date free of charge or receive a full refund.

How difficult is the tour?
This tour requires a good basic level of fitness from participants. There are no special requirements except that participants must be able to swim. You will receive a detailed introduction to kayaking techniques from a professional guide before the start of the tour.

What should I pack for this tour?
We recommend you bring the following items for the tour:

  • Small backpack for drinking water etc.
  • Hat, sunglasses, and sun cream
  • Swimming gear and towel
  • Spare shoes, as those worn while kayaking may get wet
  • Personal sustainable water bottle (at least 1 litre capacity). We are a nature-loving company and strive to avoid plastic waste
